Missed you when you were in Dallas, we were out of town. So glad you’re together again….hope to see you in Austin on the 30th!
I love the Wagoneers, I’ve known them since they were little wagons—in training wheels. They have no doubt improved with age. Keep on rolling Wagoneers . Love. Rosie
Before reading the great write-up on the main page..in a comment to the recent posted song “Rows and Rows” on you tube, I wrote the following (onlya portion made it):
“Wonderful tribute to veterans…this would/should have been a classic with some promotion back in 88…
check out “Stout and High” and “Atlanta” to listen to similar songs in the tradition of Johnny Horton, Marty Robbins by this great band now back together ….the Wagoneers were truly pioneers of a hybrid ‘honky-tonk,” “rockabilly” band also with echoes of Buddy Holly and Everly Brothers harmonies resounding in this listeners ear
Monte Warden, lead singer and songwriter, could put on a show…to me Brent Wilson was superb on lead guitar (and backing vocals) (James Burton inspired?), not to slight Craig Pettigrew (bass and backing vocals) and Tom Lewis (drums) in the least…it’s just great to see they are back (2011)!”
My point being that it is good to know my musical sensibilities are not far off as to The Wagoneers influences… I haven’t been so inspired by a group in my “later” years as I was by the Wagoneers back in 88-89 or since …truly a great multi-faceted band… and i wish them nothing but renewed and long-term success this time around…we need your music as an alternative to the mostly banal music out there! Roll on!
